Liverpool Beer Festival is run by the local branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale)

January 25th is Burns Night. If you are celebrating the life of Robert Burns, don’t forget that late in his life Rabbie was an Exciseman, he ensured tax was imposed on a variety of goods, including alcohol. The Exciseman may be history, but we still have HM Treasury who are currently considering changes to Small Brewers Relief (SBR), a system that provides for reduced rates of beer duty for small brewers. Concerned MPs have tabled an Early Day Motion, EDM 1374: The Reduction of Small Brewers’ Relief asking the Government to revise their current preferred approach, which could mean microbreweries going out of business. Read the EDM here: https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/57979

Please contact your MP and ask them to support the EDM (Find your MP here: https://members.parliament.uk/members/commons
